Who We Are

 

 
Negist makes hand-woven cotton textiles, leather articles, basketry and pottery, bridging the traditional and contemporary worlds with a unique approach to Ethiopian designs. We work with talented textile and basket weavers, embroiderers, cotton spinners, potters and dyers that make beautiful and contemporary textiles and end-products stemming from age-old traditions. It creates fresh and contemporary pieces with dual aim of preserving the country’s long history of craft work, while infusing the tradition with new inspirations. Each product is handmade by skilled artisans, ensuring integrity, beauty and uniqueness.

There are anout 146 artisans that are working under contract with the company throughout the year. The company aima to showcase stylish products are created with care in a manner that improves the lives of the artisans we employ. Many of our products are made in collaboration with various cooperatives to preserve their intricate skills and create sustainable employment. We believe in selling products that are made through fair emplyment and under healthy working conditons.
